Narragansett Trail Part 2

Starting at 246-256 Tom Wheeler Rd, North Stonington, CT and ending at Camp Yawgoog Rd, Voluntown, CT ~4.375 miles and 2 hrs 10mins

The second part of the Narragansett Trail is fantastic. I truly enjoyed this section. We started the trail with a happy little sign of spring, which I later learned was called a Green False Hellebore, and then instantly crossed a little brook. This is the first of several water features which included streams, the Green Fall River, waterfalls and The Green Fall Pond.

The trail is a mix of forest floor and rock ledges with some nice bridges and a few interesting bridges too — one being an old branch. I would rate this as an easy trail with the note that there are a few sections of rock face which could be tricky when wet.

The rocks on this trail are great. There is one that looks like it has a gorilla face or JFK’s face (depending on the angle), and an outcrop that is made of all split rocks. One section was very Indiana Jones like with its own “Easter Island Head.” My favorite little rock was the frog face.

Across the street from where the trail ends is a pillar marking the border of CT & RI.
