Freedley Quarry

3817-5015 Dorset Hill Rd, Dorset, VT 05251 To the quarry and back is posted at 2.5 miles. We did some additional exploring on Dorset Mt. for a total of 4.79 miles.

Getting to the marble quarry is a cake walk. The trail is well defined, groomed, travelled, etc. The mines are a fantastic place to explore. Mike and I were newbies here but had been prepped by the others to bring a flashlight and possibly a jacket because it would be dark and there was the potential for ice in the caves and could be cold.

The rocks themselves were more than gorgeous. So much so, the ugly graffiti didn’t take too much away from the experience.

One of the coolest things we saw was the way the sun was reflecting off the water created a picture show on the side of the rock wall. Watching shadows of the ripples of water on the wall was pretty trippy.
