Frost Mountain Yurt & Trail

Frost Mountain Trail Brownfield, ME ~ 4 miles

Ordinarily I wouldn’t include the camping pictures, but in this instance since staying at Frost Mountain Yurts is the only reason I know this trail, I am. This was Dana’s and my third time on this mountain, Bryan’s second and Ryan’s first.

It was a very cold day — only 0°F at 10:30AM, (practically a heatwave considering it was -20°F earlier in the morning), so it seemed most logical to skip driving to another mountain and to just hike the one we could walk to from our Yurt’s front door.

The trail is well maintained and overall isn’t challenging. There were two spots that the combination of the cold, snow, and my heavy boots had me winded and questioning my love of hiking, but the pretty views quickly reminded me. This trail provides several views of the White Mountains including Mount Washington.

Once you reach the top there are two different look out points: a scenic loop and the peak. Both are worth going to and easy to get to. We had warmed up enough to even sit and enjoy the views.

After enjoying the views, we returned to the yurt for some local made goodies and a campfire, which was a perfect way to end our snowy trek.

Only thing to really note is that the hiking trails and snowmobile trails merge for a moment, so it is important to pay attention to your surroundings.
