Hike to Hamilton Falls

Starting at Jamaica State Campground to Falls and back – Under 6 miles

The hike to Hamilton Falls is a pretty easy hike. For approximately 2 miles you follow an old rail trail next to the West River. The trail is wide and flat and well groomed. Since it is a state park there are signs pointing out the history and notable landmarks along the way. The trail is surrounded by great rock formations and pretty trees and even bamboo! We walked down to the bridge and back to the trail to head to the falls. It is a beautiful climb. It isn’t overly steep in any particular areas, but it does get mucky. Once you get to the top you then take a stairway down on the left and walk out to the falls.

The waterfall is beautiful. It comes down a small gorge before splitting into two and draining into some shallow pools. We hiked over the face of the falls and then up the side to look down and see even more breathtaking views.
